Through Harvey World "Allstates Travel", Activ Recreation offers a variety of overseas, interstate and intrastate holidays for people aged 18 and over.
Some of the destinations have included the USA, New Zealand, Gold Coast, Tasmania, Monkey Mia and Busselton. A travel brochure outlining these and other holidays with costings can be obtained from Activ Recreation. Participants' support ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4.
Rec-Ends offer participants a wide range of weekend activities departing Friday afternoons and returning on Sunday afternoons. The Rec-Ends are designed for groups of people, with a maximum of 12 participants, aged 18 and over, with varying ratio requirements. Rec-Ends include a variety of different activities such as art and crafts, whale watching, horse riding or tourist activities.
Perhaps the best known of our camps and very popular during the hot summer months. These camps cater specifically for adults, aged 18 and over, from November to February.
The capacity of each camp is around 36 participants, on a support ratio of 1:4. Activities include swimming, picnics, indoor sports, art and crafts, movies and visiting local tourist attractions.
A Recreation Officer, with the support of trained volunteers and carers, coordinates this program.
The Special Events program taps into annually held activities that take place on the Western Australian events calendar, such as sporting events or festivals. The program targets persons, aged 18 and over, with low support needs to attend these different events in a group of up to 12 participants. Annual Western Australian events that are attended by these groups include the Mandurah Crab Festival, York Jazz Festival, V8 Supercars and Telstra Rally Australia.
The three nights/four days Country Escapes depart Monday mornings to a variety of destinations such as Margaret River, Bunbury/Busselton and the popular Rottnest Island, and return on Thursday afternoons. Country Escapes are a smaller, low-budget holiday consisting of between 6 - 8 participants with low to moderate support needs and two support personnel.
The Recreational Activities Program (RAP) is a popular Day Program alternative to overnight holiday programs. Offered in five-day blocks (i.e. Monday - Friday), there are five RAP programs scheduled each year. Participants can choose a one-week block of activities or particular day(s) within a given week. All activities are community-based and incorporate "behind-the-scenes" tours, sporting attractions, and educational and general interest outings.
The program is for individuals, aged 18 and over, requiring a 1:4 ratio of support. Once a year, we offer a RAP week specifically for medium (1:3) support needs individuals. Also, RAP programs can be set up upon demand. We have more than 20 full-day activities to choose from. For further information about higher-support RAPs or designing your own RAP, please contact the Recreation Officer responsible for Day Programs on (08) 9258 4711.
This highly popular program caters for a diverse group of adults, aged 18 and over. With a constantly evolving program, the club offers exciting experiences to people wishing to develop recreational skills and gain confidence accessing a variety of community-based activities. The program comprises four 10-week terms with breaks, much like a school term system.
Well attended, these programs operate all year round, except for the Christmas break. Bowlers meet on Mondays (Fairlanes City) and Tuesdays (Melville Super Bowl) for up to two games. Often bowlers catch up for afternoon tea and a chat before a game, making the program environment a very sociable one.
Participants are invited to help coordinate an end-of-year wind-up to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of all bowlers. All participants are required to organise their own support personnel (if required) and to make their own way to/from bowling venues. An Activ volunteer is always on duty to supervise the bowling group as a whole.
