With funding from the WA Government’s Disability Services Commission, Activ provides respite services to more than 250 adults and children in Perth and Bunbury.

To fulfill our purpose of providing a better life for people with intellectual disabilities and their families, Activ offers tailored, personalised care and individualised programs for clients while looking at community inclusion, accessibility, awareness, innovative and responsive supports.

In Perth metropolitan area Activ operates two short stay facilities for children in Bayswater at Variety Pelican House. Person centred programming enables respite clients at Variety Pelican to experience individual tailored programs of activity, driven towards the achievement of learning and developmental milestones and goals.

Activ also operates two short stay facilities for adults in the metropolitan area, located in Bayswater and Coolbellup. Through these well-established and equipped houses; Activ offers respite to clients, where daily recreation activities are offered in a supported home environment.

Regionally, Activ operates two short stay facilities in Bunbury, one for children and the second for adults and people with complex care needs. Person centred planning to client activities and regularly engaging in community and external activities are rated highly in users’ priority.

Activ’s Pelican House has some exciting refurbishment projects planned over the next 12 -18 months and will soon offer some of the states best facilities. In line with its external makeover, our service delivery is becoming more flexible to the needs of the community, by looking at ways we can better support families’ needs. This will include options for respite in the home, in the community and overnight at one of our houses.

Clients are eligible to access short stay respite through their Intensive Family Assistance (IFS) funding or Emergency Care funding (Red Cross, DSC, etc). Fee for Service clients may also be self funded.
