We understand the need for the entire community of Perth to have access to detailed information about how traffic might affect them on Sunday 29 August. This year we have gone to great lengths to ensure participants, spectators and the broader community have comprehensive information on road closures and alternate routes on race day. Thanks to our Mapping Partner Landgate, there is an interactive map detailing all road closure and alternative route information for the 2010 Rebel Sport City to Surf for Activ. This map can be found HERE.

We urge all participants and volunteers to stay off the roads and utilise FREE public transport to and from the event and the FREE two way shuttle service for participants, spectators and volunteers operating between the City, Floreat and City Beach Oval. Details of all race day travel services will be available in August.

Road closures are everybody's business, so be prepared, and spread the word about how the 2010 Rebel Sport City to Surf for Activ may affect your travels on Sunday 29 August.

Barry Carter in his 29th
City to Surf in 2009

No he's not turning 30, but he will be celebrating his 30th year competing in the City to Surf in 2010!

Barry Carter has been pounding the streets in the annual City to Surf event now for 29 years, and is excited about taking part in his 30th race in 2010. Barry is 55 years old with 3 grandchildren, but nothing looks like slowing him down as he approaches the big 3-0.

Over a 29 year involvement in the 12km Run, Barry has never slipped out of Category B (estimated finish time of 48 – 58 minutes), and in his 30th City to Surf Barry has set a goal of once again completing the famous course in under 60 minutes.

Barry has seen the event grow over his 29 year involvement, but the feelings attached remain the same. He describes the event as a “fun” event, and looks forward to finishing his 30th City to Surf in one piece before playing soccer in the afternoon. His favourite memory of the event is the annual spectacle of thousands of people running along St Georges Terrace as he surges forward up Malcolm Street on route to the beach.

It's a wonderful acheivement for Barry to be completing his 30th City to Surf in 2010, and we wish his luck in acheiving his goal of running under 60 minutes in the Channel Nine 12km Run in 2010.
