Start and finish precincts

In 2009 the start and finish lines for all events underwent a major overhaul. Take a look at the 2009 layouts below!

START
From 2009 all participants will be asked to assemble on Esplanade Park. The start line will remain in the same location on St Georges Terrace, however to assist the process due to growing registrations, the services required, and to better facilitate different start groups, participants in all events starting in the City will be required to assemble on Esplanade Park.

****Participants will not be permitted to assemble on St Georges Terrace until marshaled to the start line by race officials****

A CLEAR RUN… the new assembly area on Esplanade Park provided the following benefits to all participants:
-better policing of participants starting in their correct start group (I.e. fast runners with fast runners)
-better policing of participants with prams or pushing strollers to start at the rear of the field
-event services will be more accessible
-additional toilet facilities to assist growing crowds
-enhances clothing service for ease of drop off
-prime spectator positions for the longer events

IMPORTANT INFORMATION… please be aware that due to the inclusion of a full marathon in 2009, road closures in the City of Perth will be greater than in previous years. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the free train services, provided by Transperth, to travel to the start precinct. If you are driving or are dropping off participants please be sure to look at the Start Precinct map for recommended drop off points.

FINISH
In an exciting development, the finish line for all events will now be on the hard steady surface of West Coast Highway, rather than the sometimes wet and slippery grass of City Beach Oval. With the change comes an impressive overhaul of the finish precinct. Changes have been made to deal with growing participant and spectator numbers and will ensure the event can grow further in coming years.

A FESTIVAL ATMOSPHERE… the newly designed finish precinct will maintain the unique party atmosphere synonymous with the City to Surf, and will allow for additional services for all participants including:
-shower and change facilities with the clothing service, so you can hang around and enjoy the day for longer
-the new Skins Recovery Marquee for all marathon finishers
-free fruit giveaway thanks to Coles supermarkets
-Merchandise sales available on the oval
-excellent spectator access to the finish chute and finish line
-live music acts on stage throughout the morning and afternoon
-corporate marquees for private entertaining

IMPORTANT INFORMATION....Please be aware that due to course changes parking will not be available in the same locations as previous years. For parking information please click here.
