Alternatives to Employment and Post School Options

Activ’s Alternatives to Employment and Post School Options encourage participation in everyday life and provide our clients with real opportunities to learn, contribute and have valued roles in the community. These include:

  • Membership and affiliation with community groups and clubs

As part of your individualised plan, we will work with you to identify your own aspirations, abilities and strengths and develop a program that will help you work towards your goals. 

Alternatives to Employment and Post School Options will ensure that you are central to the planning and decision making process, learn life skills and connect with your local community.  

Activ's Alternatives to Employment and Post School Options focuses on four key outcomes:

  • Social participation,
  • Increased independence,
  • Life long learning; and
  • Enhanced natural support networks

Funding Options

You may be eligible for funding for our program from the Disability Services Commission. Please ask us for more information when you enquire.

Alternatively a full “pay for service” option may be negotiated for people with a disability who do not have funding.


Costs are based on individual service options and will be further discussed with you at point of enquiry.

Service hours/locations

Services are offered 52 weeks of the year Monday to Friday, between the hours of 6am till 6pm.
Services are located throughout the metropolitan area and country regions.


To help meet your support needs, transport services are available and can be negotiated when we are working with you to develop a person centred plan.

Applying for funding

Before applying for funding to access Alternatives to Employment and Post School Options, contact your Local Area Coordinator (see Your Local Support) or one of the service providers funded by the Disability Services Commission WA (see Directory of Service Providers).  They will help clarify if you are eligible and need to sign any application forms.

Applications for funding are made through the Combined Application Process.
