Volunteering is a great way to make a positive contribution to your community, learn new skills and make new friends.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?
Individuals 18 years or older who can communicate clearly in English. No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to give your time and energy.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
Activ has a wide range of services and programs, each with different time commitment requirements. We have opportunities during the day, in the evenings and on the weekends. Volunteering can be done on an ad hoc or regular basis depending on your availability and we welcome everyone whether you have a little or a lot of time to give.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THE APPLICATION PROCESS?
Prospective volunteers will be required to attend an interview with our volunteer officer, provide two referees and be willing for us to conduct a police check. If you wish to volunteer with children a ‘Working with Children’ card will need to be obtained.
WHAT SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE DO I NEED AS A VOLUNTEER?
You don’t need any specialised skills to volunteer. Our volunteers come from a diverse range of backgrounds, professions and ages with a wide range of skills and experiences. No previous experience is necessary, just the right attitude.
WHAT ABOUT TRAINING AND SUPPORT?
On the job training and support is provided.
ARE THERE OPPURTUNITIES FOR WORK EXPERIENCE AND STUDENT PLACEMENTS?
Yes. We do have a small capacity to accept work experience and student placements. Please clearly indicate on your expression of interest form this is why you wish to volunteer.
