Activ is excited to announce our partnership with Foundation Housing to develop Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes for six Activ customers in Bassendean.
SDA houses are bespoke properties designed and built to meet the unique and specific support needs of individuals living with disability.
Bespoke floor plans and assistive technology will be used in the homes to increase accessibility, meaning Activ’s customers will be better able to complete daily living tasks within their homes, enabling them to live more independently.
The Minister for Housing, the Hon. John Carey MLA, attended the sod turning ceremony on Monday 6 September.
“Foundation Housing and Activ have come together to create homes that provide the right support for those who need it. I am looking forward to the completion of this project and what the future will bring for the special disability accommodation space,” the Minister said.
Activ’s Executive Manager Operations North, Michelle Bilson, is really excited about what the development means for the residents moving in.
“Working with Foundation Housing has been great. Our customers have been involved in the design process, ensuring that their individual accessibility requirements are met. Once built, these modern, specialist homes will greatly improve the living standards of the residents,” Michelle said.
Our customers are really looking forward to moving into their new homes in 2022.
NDIS participants can test their eligibility for SDA, and work to have this funding included in their NDIS plans.
