Activ has made the difficult decision to cease the delivery of all facility-based Short-Term Accommodation (STA) services from 8 April 2022.
From this date, we will not be offering STA services at our three STA sites; May St and Variety Pelican Centre in the Perth metro area, and Gibbs St in the South West, and all future bookings after 8 April will be cancelled.
Activ regularly reviews its services to ensure they are sustainable, in line with customer requirements and demands, and provide genuine, high quality independence outcomes.
There is no single reason that has led Activ to make this decision, but rather a combination of several factors.
We have experienced a decline in demand for STA services since the introduction of the NDIS funding model in October 2019.
This has been further compounded due to the service disruptions that Activ has experienced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereby STA sites have either had to close to comply with mandated restrictions, or our ability to staff STA services and supports at the required level was compromised.
We also expect our need to redeploy STA staff to essential accommodation services to increase, as we experience widespread community transmission of COVID-19.
Activ has communicated this decision to our STA customers and their families and will support them to liaise with their support coordinators and NDIS local area coordinators to access alternative STA services in their communities.
