Activ South West

Activ South West provides accommodation, employment, community, short term accommodation, education and training to people living with disability in the Bunbury and Busselton area.

Our History

In November 1954, Activ responded to the growing need of families in the South West to better support people living with disability. Local families came together to advocate for their children and increase awareness of the challenges faced by people living with disability.

Bunbury was the first country region to open a an Activ branch when local parents secured a block and a transportable classroom in the suburb of Punchbowl (as it was known at the time). Since then, we have become a well-known part of the community and opened many disability accommodation houses, employment and community centres throughout the South-West. Our Bunbury site is located at 16 Beddingfield Street and is home to our world-class timber manufacturing plant.

Activ Busselton opened in May 1957. You will find our administration office at the Busselton Community Resource Centre, at 19 Cammilleri Street.

The NDIS has been in place in the South West since October 2018. Customers are encouraged to move their funding to the national model. Activ is now a major provider of the NDIS in the South-West and across much of Western Australia.

Activ in the Community

Busselton Mayor, Councilor Grant Henley, is a long-time advocate of Activ. He has visited our staff and customers numerous times and said he always leaves feeling impressed and proud of his fellow residents.

“The City of Busselton has a long-standing relationship with Activ. Activ supported employees provide a wonderful service to this community. They undertake a range of important jobs including gardening maintenance and essential re-vegetation along the coastal strip. Activ workers are very engaged citizens, they do an excellent job and we’re proud to support them,” said Mayor Henley.

Main Roads WA’s Senior Contracts Coordinator of Vegetation, Tim Batt, said he is very happy with the flexibility that Activ Property Care has given his project.

“Activ South West Property Care is a perfect fit for us as it grows location specific plant species in the volumes we need and has them ready to plant when we need them,” said Tim.

Our Services

We are a major NDIS provider of numerous disability services throughout the South-West. We offer a number of supports including 24-hour disability accommodation, employment through our Australian Disability Employment (ADE), training and education, community inclusion and short-term accommodation support (previously known as respite). Our services are tailored to customers’ goals, dreams or aspirations.

Our commercial arm, Activ Business Services, supports the local business community with a range of services including:

  • industrial (tagging, assembling, shedding, decanting and firewood)
  • timber (pallets and all manufactured timber items). Click here to learn more about the timber products available to purchase.
  • horticultural services (small or large scale ground maintenance, reticulation, pruning, planting and landscaping)

We are large employer and have a blended workforce. This means our teams include people who live with disability and people who don’t. We do not believe that people living with disability should be secluded or sheltered. Our customers have the right to participate in the community alongside everyone else.
