Integrating Mental Health Practice Skill Set

This Skill Set provides you the skills to assist and support people who are experiencing mental health concerns, and respond to the increasing need for mental health awareness. You will also gain practical experience to integrate mental health support skills into your work practice.

Achieve this accredited skill set over just 10 days of classroom training.

We are now taking expressions of interest for our programs starting on the following dates:

  • 9 May @ Bunbury (Condensed delivery – 1 training day per week)
  • 31 July @ Pathways Bentley (1 training day per fortnight)

Course Includes

This skill set consists of five Units of Competency:

  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCMHS005 Provide services to people with co-existing mental health and alcohol and other drugs issues
  • CHCCCS003 Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide
  • CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations
  • HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment.

Course Requirements

This program is suitable for students who are currently employed (more than 20 hours per week) and able to complete the required workplace assessments. You will be asked to complete a Learner Profile to ensure your suitability to join the program.

Workplace assessments involve providing examples of specific tasks you have completed in a workplace or structured volunteering environment, signed off by a Workplace Representative from your workplace.

Practice new skills and knowledge and utilise existing experience during training and assessment.

Progression to CHC43315 – Certificate IV in Mental Health. Successfully completed units of this Skill Set can be credited towards this Certificate IV qualification.
