CHCSS00070 Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set

This nationally recognised skill set has been designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to support a person to self-administer medication.

Learn basic information about the human body and develop the skills and knowledge required to prepare and provide medication assistance and complete medication documentation.

This skill set allows you to focus your learning and development in a particular subject area through targeted units of competency.

Course structure

To be awarded CHCSS00070 Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set, a student must successfully complete a total of two (2) units of competency, consisting of:

Units of competency

  • HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
  • HLTHP006 Assist clients with medication

Workplace assessment tasks

To achieve this skill set, a student must demonstrate skills in a workplace setting required to meet assessment conditions. Options available to students undertaking this skill set include:

  • Work based assessment tasks in real-time via video-link or recorded video
  • Work based assessment tasks in person

Learners will be issued with a statement of attainment for all successfully completed units.

Course requirements

Entry requirements

This nationally recognised skill set has been designed for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in an area involving provision of direct client care or support.

Study requirements

Students will need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate:

  • Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills
  • Communication, documentation and research skills
  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer, with basic digital literacy skills

Students undertaking blended and/or online training will require intermediate computer skills such as internet browsing, email, word processing, and presentation software.

Workstation setup

You will need a quiet space for study that has stable internet connection. You will also need:

  • Web camera, microphone and speakers
  • Smartphone
  • Earbuds or headphones
  • Zoom video conferencing software

Please note: You will need to turn your camera and microphone on, as required when using video conferencing.

 

Assessment requirements

To achieve this skill set, a student must demonstrate skills in a workplace setting in assessment conditions. Options available to students undertaking this skill set include:

  • Work based assessment tasks in real-time via video-link or recorded video
  • Work based assessment tasks in person
