Activ is pleased to announce that the Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments have formally signed the NDIS bilateral agreement.
The agreement outlines how the NDIS will roll out in Western Australia and confirms that the WA system will adhere to the key NDIS principles of choice and control, giving people living with disability access to the support they need no matter where they live.
This is significant news for Activ and the people we support.
The scheme will roll out from 1 July 2017 and will be delivered by a new WA NDIS authority which will be governed by a seven-member Independent WA Board.
The Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments will work together on the appointment of the Chair of the WA Board with four Board Members appointed by the State’s Disability Services Minister and the remaining through appointed on recommendation from the Commonwealth Minister.
Those customers currently in a WA NDIS Trial site will see no change as a result of the announcement.
For those customers not in a trial site, the NDIS will roll out over the next three years from 1 July 2017 to 1 July 2020 based on their geographic location.
Further information on the roll out can be found here.
