The team at Activ Employment Services Bentley have taken up an exciting new contract with WA Spray & Blast Seals, providing our supported employees with more opportunities for independence at work.
WA Spray Blast and Seals manufacture safety shields for the sand blasting industry, supplying to customers all throughout Australia. Manufacturing of the safety shields is undertaken using an electric die cutter, a large machine now installed at Activ Bentley. The team uses the die cutter to cut the shields to size, where they then install them into safety gear worn to protect the face.
A machine of this size and type has never been used at Activ Bentley, so training was provided to a team of our supported employees on how to use the new machinery. This work has been a great opportunity for our supported employees to grow their practical knowledge and skills and to learn more about working in a team environment, creating a strong foundation that can be built upon should they choose to enter the open job market.
Activ’s supported employment & WA Spray Blast, the perfect partnership
Our supported employees have thoroughly enjoyed the learning process and Mark, the owner of WA Spray Blast and Seals is extremely happy with the quality of work produced.
“Activ have exceeded my expectations. The guys do an amazing job and everyone is so professional. I think it’s great that I can not only have great products for my clients, but I’m also supporting people living with disability.”
Mark first approached Activ to help him keep up with the demand for his products, and now he’s extremely happy that he can not only keep up with demand, but also approach new clients to supply his products to. Soon, a second die cutter will be installed at Activ Bentley, making way for more of our supported employees to get involved and expand their scope of work.
